MISSION AND OUTREACH

We aim for the Parish to have a vision of the worldwide nature and mission of the Church in
all its spiritual and cultural diversity and vitality, and try to involve every member of the
congregation in that mission.

We support a wide range of agencies, working in this country and throughout the world,
including humanitarian aid agencies, mission societies and special projects overseas.
We foster direct links with Churches in other countries, providing mutual inspiration and
support.

Outreach involves our relationship with the wider local community in mission and service,
working within an ecumenical partnership, and includes our support of local charities.
The Parish's Mission and Outreach Committee provides a lead in these initiatives, also acting
as a channel of communication and as a fundraiser.
Some of the main agencies supported are:

THE CHURCH MISSION SOCIETY
CMS is one of the largest missionary societies of the Church of England, working in
partnership with Churches in many countries, including the UK.
Our Parish has supported its work since 1840.

of enabling people to grow spiritually, to thrive physically and to have a voice in an unjust
world. This is done in partnership with churches around the world, providing the resources -
people, money and ideas - that they define as necessary to meet local needs.

THE CHILDREN'S SOCIETY
Since 1881 The Children's Society has been reaching out to vulnerable children and young
people. Over a century later, our work remains as vital and as pioneering as ever. Today,
The Children's Society is a Christian, child-centred, social justice organisation with an
unconditional belief in the child, and every year we work with thousands of children and
young people on the edge of society. We work with and for children to help them deal with
life's harshest challenges and face the future with confidence.

for children orphaned by war and famine in Ethiopia.
The emphasis now is on assisting children within the community, and enabling local
communities to run health, education and income generating projects, and as a consequence
the Jerusalem Association has been renamed the Jerusalem Children and Community
Development Association.
